While my initial reaction is that this is disappointing, there's a couple of things I'm going to look for upon release.įirst, will the new song catalogue improve under the subscription model? The last year or so of Rocksmith DLC was very disappointing (maybe abysmal), but kind of expected. I will say the DLC content is of course at a much higher baseline standard than any fan-tabbed versions, and it's definitely worth spending a bit for songs that you like. New DLC content is now done for RS14 but let your morals guide you. We also don't know if these things have affected their approach to a potential followup.

I would be quick to point out that though this is quite common for the PC version it is not sanctioned by Ubi and we don't know if or how the availability of unofficially-tabbed licensed music affected their ability to secure deals for DLC content or how it affected the overall revenue of the game. The custom songs use the same song ID in-game as "Cherub Rock" but appear in the game as unique songs so you can effectively add as many as you want.

use the search engine to download custom-tabbed songs by fans - some people upload songs from their own musical projects, others have done it for existing licensed music replace a game file so it can recognize unofficial songs buy any DLC song (in the past this had to be "Cherub Rock" by The Smashing Pumpkins, but it can be anything now if you're willing to do an extra step) Not sure if it's against ResetEra's rules as it can technically be used for quasi-piracy, but essentially the process is:
